Wow! Great to read this Al- what an inspiring story. We are often near Langdale so I’ll have to go in search of Sickle Tarn and the cave. Sounds like my kind of place. Here’s my rhyme I heard/dreamt up as a child to help me remember cave stuff; Stalagtites hold ‘tight’ to the ceiling and stalagmites ‘might’ grow tall enough to reach it one day. It’s very useful when conversing with cave dwelling Echos.

Yes, do go in search! It's such a wonderful place -- I can't wait to get back there. I LOVE your rhyme. it's very brilliant! As I worked on the book I started remembering which was which by thinking of 'tights' that sort of hang down for Stalactites?! But I prefer yours. X
